Is this car listing dodgy?

Screenshot any used-car listing — Marketplace, Gumtree, carsales — and RegoSnap reads it, checks it, and tells you what to ask the seller before you hand over money.

RegoSnap home screen Verdict for a listing with things to check Red verdict after reading a PPSR certificate Safety rating from the Used Car Safety Ratings

What it checks

How it works

  1. Screenshot the listing — the photo, the details and the seller's description. Up to four screenshots of the one car.
  2. RegoSnap reads them and shows you what it found, so you can fix anything it misread.
  3. It walks you through the official $2 PPSR search, then reads the certificate you get back.
  4. You get one verdict — red, amber or green — with every point showing where it came from.

What it costs

First carFree
One carA$4.99
30-day passA$9.99, as many cars as you like for 30 days. It doesn't renew.

The $2 PPSR search itself is paid to the government on the PPSR website, not to us.

Why it exists

About half the used cars sold in Australia each year are private sales, where none of the dealer protections apply. The PPSR search that shows finance, theft and write-offs costs $2 and takes a minute — but it comes back as a wall of legal wording, and it only helps if you know to run it in the first place. RegoSnap does the reading for you and says what it means.
